BLUE/not blue
A day is full of decisions. Behind even small ones, big questions can be hidden. In an artist studio a new shade of a color or another direction of thoughts may have an impact on the result, that turns everything upside down. The title refers to the decisions and moods in a working proces, looking for abstact truths.
We are colleagues and also wife and husband. Through the years we have developed a close dialogue around our artistic practices. Since 2011, we have run t e k s a s project space, organising exhibitions and other artist-projects.
Peter’s artistic base around painting and Karin’s artistic base around space leads to specific regards, discussions and concerns. Is Peter’s installation a sculpture or a painting, does the color in Karin’s object really matter?
In the upstairs space Karin Lind will show a photographic installation and sculpture. Downstairs Peter Holm will show a painting installation, incorporating wallpainting with scultpural elements. The artwork is made on site and is specific for the rooms.
The common title of the show leaves a free and open workingspace, questioning matter and meaning ⏤something will be blue, something not blue.一日は決断の連続です。小さな決断の背後には、大きな問いかけが隠れていることもあります。アーティストのアトリエでは、新しい色合いや異なる思考の方向性に影響を受け、根本からすべてひっくり返るような結果がもたらされることがあります。この展覧会タイトルは、創造のプロセスにおける決定や気分に言及し、抽象的な真理の探求を示しています。
私たちは同志であり、また妻と夫でもあります。多年にわたり、私たちは芸術的実践をめぐる緊密な対話を発展させてきました。2011年以来、私たちはプロジェクト・スペース「teksas」を運営し、展覧会や他アーティストのプロジェクトを企画しています。
Peterは絵画を、Karinは空間を芸術における基盤としています。Peterのインスタレーションは彫刻なのか絵画なのか、Karinのオブジェクトの色は本当に重要なのか、それぞれの視点によって考察や議論を交わします。本展覧会では、kenakianの2階スペースに、Karin Lindが写真インスタレーションと彫刻を展示します。１階では、Peter Holmが壁のペインティングと彫刻の要素を取り入れた絵画によるインスタレーションを発表します。その作品は現地で制作され、この場所特有のものとして存在します。
この共通タイトルは、作品空間を解放し、物質や意味に問いをなげかけます。

Karin Lindの作品は、物理的な空間や場所と視覚に関連し、私たちの知覚を刺激する。自己や周囲の環境に関する認識の拡張をテーマとしているKarin Lindの作品は、物理的な実在と形而上の抽象を同時に探究し、インスタレーション、写真、ドローイングなど様々なメディアによって具現化されている。
1969年生／デンマークを拠点に活動。Peter Holmとともに運営するプロジェクトスペース”t e k s a s”のキュレーターとしても活躍。国内外にて展覧会開催やコレクションが収蔵されている。
KARIN LINDs work is spatial, stimulating an expansion of the perception. How we recognise ourselves and our surroundings form the common theme in many of her works, navigating through actual and metaphysical levels at once. Her work is materialized in various medias as installation, photo and drawing.
Born 1969, lives and works in Denmark, active as a curator within the projectspace t e k s a s, with Peter Holm. Her work is exhibited internationally and is held in several collections.

Peter Holm works in the field of painting, taking on various views and points on painting in the expanded field and historically related terms. Keywords of his works are color-relations and spacial concerns on the physical presence of the work installed.
Born 1960, lives and works in Denmark. He also is active as a curator within the platform “t e k s a s” projectspace, which he runs with Karin. His work is exhibited internationally and is held in several collections.
このたびkenakianでは、デンマーク在住のアーティスト Karin LindとPeter Holmによる展覧会 “BLUE / Not Blue”を開催いたします。二人は、デンマークのグレステッドにてプロジェクトスペースを運営し、展覧会や他アーティストのプロジェクト企画も行なっています。当初2020年の開催を予定していた本展覧会は、コロナ禍3年の延期を経て、彼らとの協力のもと実現いたします。皆様のご来場をお待ちしております。
kenakian is pleased to present an exhibition “BLUE/Not Blue” by Karin Lind and Peter Holm. Karin Lind and Peter Holm run a project space in Græsted, Denmark, where they organise exhibitions and other artists’ projects. This exhibition was originally scheduled to take place in 2020, but has been postponed by three years due to the COVID-19 epidemic. This exhibition will be realised in cooperation with them.
